Star-Studded Cast Are Going Solos For Amazon

Together apart.

Calming things down a tad after his Nazi-hunting schlock-fest Hunters, creator David Weil is back in cahoots with Amazon Studios for a new anthology series, boasting an impressive cast that’ll no doubt draw in viewers. Set to premiere later this year, Solos stars Morgan Freeman, Anne Hathaway, Helen Mirren, Uzo Aduba, Nicole Beharie, Anthony Mackie, Dan Stevens, and Constance Wu. Coincidentally they’re all appearing in some brand new posters as well. Check them out below.

On the bricks for some time before finally getting the green light at the streaming service not run by a talking mouse or an all-powerful red N, Amazon Studios’ upcoming series is produced by Weil, as well Sam Taylor-Johnson and Laura Lancaster. Solos is a dramatic and thought-provoking seven-part anthology series that explores the deeper meaning of human connection, as explored through the lens of the individual. Solos will tell unique character-driven stories, each from a different perspective and moment in time, that illuminate that even during our most seemingly isolated moments, in the most disparate of circumstances, we are all connected through the human experience.

Weil said in a statement that, “I am beyond thrilled to be bringing Solos to life alongside this group of artists who I so deeply admire. I created this piece with a desire to capture stories about connection, hope and the search for that common hum of humanity that binds us all. I’m immensely grateful to Jennifer Salke and my incredible partners at Amazon for their unwavering support and collaboration on this special project.” So that’s nice, eh?

There’s a number of names on the cast list that so far have got themselves very comfortable on streaming platforms for the past few years, with the likes of Anthony Mackie turning up in Altered Carbon and most recently Outside the Wire on Netflix, as well as Falcon and the Winter Soldier for Disney+ later this year. Anne Hathaway has also worked with Amazon already for the great heartfelt anthology, Modern Love as well as starring alongside Chewitel Ejiofor in HBO Max’s heist movie, Locked Down.
