Want to cut Star Wars fans down the middle sharper than a lightsaber swing? Mention Rian Johnson. Even four years on from his input in the galaxy far, far away with Star Wars: The Last Jedi still causes much debate. That didn’t stop Lucasfilm from signing off on giving Johnson not just another shot but his own trilogy to play around with shortly after his film was released. Since then, not a lot was mentioned on what, or indeed if it was still happening. Well now thankfully we’ve got some clarification.
Speaking to Sariah Wilson of USA Today this week, Johnson spilled the beans assuring fans his plans for Star Wars are still operational. From Wilson’s Twitter directly she said…
Well, it’s a lot more than we originally had, I guess. This also explains why Johnson’s future films weren’t mentioned at Disney’s Investors Day last December, either. Who can blame him? Alongside taking a trip back to the franchise depending on your perspective he remoulded/ruined, Johnson also has Knives Out 2 in the pipeline, as well.
An unquestionably busy man but one that will no doubt have something special lined up when he finally does go back to the stars for all sorts of wars, and stuff. Keep ’em peeled folks.
