Obi-Wan Kenobi Cast Is Most Impressive

Well, hello there.

When Disney finally confirmed that Ewan McGregor was reprising his role as legendary Jedi Knight, Obi-Wan Kenobi in a solo show (Solo not included), the train was understandably headed into hyperspace. However, today brings news that may punch it a few parsecs further with confirmation that Obi-Wan Kenobi will be going into production imminently, with an incredible cast in tow, as well.

Set ten years after the events of Revenge of the SithObi-Wan Kenobi will reunite us with one of the last of the Jedi after the Empire decimated his order. Joining McGregor on familiar turf will be Hayden Christensen, back in black as his former friend-turned villain with a ventilator, Darth Vader. Joel Edgerton and Bonnie Piesse will also be returning as Uncle Ben and Aunt Beru, the blue milk-guzzling guardians to young Luke Skywalker.

While seeing those names back in the mix is impressive in itself, the rest of the talent joining Obi-Wan Kenobi is also pretty jaw-dropping. Comprised of an uncut gem, an imminent Eternal and a legendary Han from a different franchise altogether, Disney released this tweet letting us know just who will be joining McGregor in a galaxy far, far away. Take a peek at the tweet below.

Joining in the showdown of the century is; Moses Ingram (The Queen’s Gambit), Kumail Nanjiani (Eternals), Indira Varma (Game of Thrones), Rupert Friend (The French Dispatch), O’Shea Jackson Jr. (Straight Outta Compton), Sung Kang (The Fast and Furious franchise), Simone Kessell (Terranova) and Benny Safdie (co-director of Uncut Gems and Good Time). All in all, a wonderful cast that will likely set fan theories a flame in the next few weeks before we learn more about it.

Keeping the starship steady for this new series will be director Deborah Chow, who helmed a few episodes from The Mandalorian‘s first season. This time around she’s going to be sat in the director’s chair from beginning to end, and has absolutely no pressure whatsoever…honest.

Following the huge success of The Mandalorian‘s second season and the fact that, well…it’s Star Wars, it came as no surprise just how much Disney would be stretching their grasp across the galaxy to tell more live-action stories. Before we see Obi-Wan again, there’s also The Book of Boba Fett (teased in Mando’s closing episode of last season) and Andor which follows the titular rebel from Rogue One. After Obi-Wan Kenobi‘s adventures, we’ll then have The Acolyte set during the High Republic, Ahsoka with Rosario Dawson taking the lead, and Lando with Donald Glover reprising the role Han’s old buddy. As reported at the last Disney Investor’s event, this will all be linked to Rangers of the New Republic, culminating in a ‘climatic story event’ ala Avengers

For now, if there’s so much of a Jedi’s facial fur out of place, we’ll be sure to let you know about it. The only thing we’re waiting out on is that Jar Jar comeback. Fingers crossed.
