When skyscrapers are getting used like baseball bats in a showdown of the century, you’re going to want to make sure there’s a banging soundtrack accompanying every swing. Thankfully it’s been confirmed that world-renowned composer for the silver screen, Junkie XL, has been tasked with writing the score for Adam Wingard’s Godzilla vs Kong. The news was clocked on that fountain of knowledge and archived restaurant meals (remember them?) Instagram, through Mr XL aka Antonius Tom Holkenborg’s account (via @KaijuNewsOutlet).
Given that this is somewhat of a main event for the ever-expanding Monsterverse that began with Gareth Evans’ Godzilla and then led on with Kong: Skull Island and Godzilla: King of Monsters, it makes sense that a talent like XL has been roped in. Composing the likes of Mad Max: Fury Road, Deadpool and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, he’s one to call for if you want to give your movie some oomph, and seeing the King of Monsters take on King Kong will require such talents.
Speaking of talents, the cast that will be running under the ginormous feet of our two fighters is an impressive one as well. Joining the madness is Alexander Skarsgård, Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, Shun Oguri, Eiza González, Jessica Henwick, Julian Dennison and Demian Bichir.
Millie Bobby Brown and Kyle Chandler are also set to return to the Monsterverse, after their previous run-in with Godzilla, as well. We’ll be seeing if they make it through the fight when Godzilla vs. Kong dings the bell November 20 this year.
