Following on a recently revealed poster, a brand new trailer for Zack Snyder’s upcoming limb-munching shuffle-a-thon, Army of the Dead, starring Dave Bautista, has appeared online. If you ever wanted Dead Rising: The Movie, this really looks like it’s the closest you’re ever going to get.
Marking his return to the genre that kicked his career into motion back in 2004, Dawn of the Dead remaker Snyder is this time taking the end of the world to Vegas. Army of the Dead follows a group of mercenaries that hope to get behind the quarantine zone in Vegas and knock off a casino. As all heists do, things go a bit sideways, and plans of becoming gazillionaires are put on the back burner in the way of survival and leaving Vegas without a bite mark. Check out the trailer for Army of the Dead in the player below.
Joining Bautista on the undead action is Omari Hardwick (Kick-Ass), Tig Notaro (Instant Family), Hiroyuki Sanada (Westworld), Raul Castillo (Vida), Nora Arnezeder (Origin), Matthias Schweighöfer (The Manny), Samantha Win (Wonder Woman), Rich Cetrone (Thor) and Garrett Dillahunt (Fear the Walking Dead). Chances are, the further down that cast list you go, the more likely you are to see these people become zombie fodder, but what do I know?
Army of the Dead will be arriving on Netflix on May 21 after Snyder finally lets his cut of Justice League loose to the massed HBO Max on March 18. His second zombie gig will also coincide with a few other films set for release, including Ryan Reynolds’ Free Guy and Chris Rock’s Saw sequel Spiral. Feel free to place your bets on who will come out on top.
